Building Peace Ep. 3: Maria Shriver, in her own words
Building Peace Ep. 3: Maria Shriver, in her own words
Dear Supporters,
When President Kennedy signed the executive order creating the Peace Corps, he couldn't have done it without Sargent Shriver — and the movement they launched together couldn't have taken root without President Johnson, who fought to make it permanent.
Today, the Kennedy, Johnson, and Shriver families have each made meaningful commitments to Peace Corps Park. They are investing in a physical and digital space where that shared history can be seen, felt, and passed on to the next generation. And now they're calling on the people who lived it.
A quarter of a million Americans have served as Peace Corps volunteers, and millions of others have partnered with them in country. No founding family, however committed, can tell that story on their own. Volunteers were always the heart of this program and they are also the heart of this project.
Peace Corps Park will only exist if the community that lived this legacy — you — decides it should. Every gift, at every level, is what turns this from a vision into a reality. Hear from Maria Shriver in the video below on why she thinks it's a vision worth supporting.
Yours in service,

Glenn A. Blumhorst

Campaign Progress
So far, the efforts of this dedicated community have raised $8,140,412 of the $14,000,000 budget for the construction of Peace Corps Park and its digital companion experience. We are now only $5.9 million from our goal.
On the construction side, we are on track to issue the "Notice to Proceed" to the fabricator at the end of July, as long as all funds are raised.
We gratefully thank and celebrate the following 53 supporters who have made new donations and/or pledges since May 27, 2026, contributing $122,678 toward the completion of Peace Corps Park:
